C.R. England - Global Transportation

C.R. England, the largest reefer carrier in the nation, is implementing a reefer fuel surcharge program.  As fuel prices have continued to rise, the burden has become unsustainable.  Our 2011 schedule is modeled after an existing industry-wide program while the formula is based upon the Department of Energy (D.O.E.) weekly national average diesel fuel price and is calculated in cents per mile (CPM).

Research is in Abundance for Truck Drivers

CR England Truck Driving JobsCanada's Universite de Moncton and Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick are joining together to do a three-year project studying truck drivers and their health with Dr. Michel Johnson will running the program.

This will be great research for the trucking industry here in the United States as well as Canada.  According to Jean Marc Picard of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, the median age of drivers is now 52 and it is getting harder to hire younger drivers.  The research is looking into health and ways to improve the routines of drivers in hopes of recruiting younger drivers to replace those who will be retiring in the next decade.  There is also a lot of new technology that drivers need to be aware of and turnover is high right now due to rising fuel costs and government regulations from both Canada and United States.

Another research is taking place in the United States in shape of a website for truck drivers.  Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is building a website to help drivers understand that they need to eat healthy while on the road.

It is clear that driving truck can be improved with knowledge and the research should help with that.  At CR England Truck Driving School, they care about their drivers and focus on safety as well as new technology.

CR England Truck Driving School is running a course specific to those who have their CDL A, but not the experience.  It focuses on safety and new technologies.  It's a great program and once a driver is certified, they have a job with CR England.  Called the School Refresher Program, it is set up to help drivers succeed and learn better ways to be safe.

If you or someone you know if interested in a driving job, check out http://www.crengland.com and apply online or call 1-888-537-2995.  Once graduated, drivers are guaranteed a job.

C.R. England, Inc. announces Fatigue Awareness Month

Outlook

C.R. England, Inc. is partnering with SleepPointe for the first annual Fatigue Awareness Month right now in April.  With a month of Fatigue Awareness seminars, booths, and information, C.R. England, Inc.’s drivers are fortunate to learn symptoms of fatigue and how to minimize risks.

According to the article, “Unhealthy Sleep-Related Behaviors --- 12 states, 2009” on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention web site, between fifty to seventy million people here in the United States alone has what we call “chronic sleep and wakefulness disorders.”  That’s a big portion of adults in the US.

One article found online from SmartMotorist.com and called “Driver Fatigue is an important cause of road crashes” gives statistics from a study that driving just 80 minutes with no time away from the wheel raises the risk of accidents due to fatigue.  Drivers should take frequent breaks throughout the day and eat healthy food like fruit to stay alert.

Week one of the 2011 Fatigue Awareness Month is focusing on how to identify the warning signs of fatigue.  These signs are listed below:

ü      Slow Reactions

ü      Sleep Debt

ü      Time of Driving

ü      Failing to check your driving mirrors

ü      Drifting from your lane

ü      Inconsistent speed

ü      Erratic breaking

ü      Missing exits or turns

ü      Chills

ü      Frequent Yawning

ü      Drowsiness

ü      Sore or Tired Eyes

ü      Boredom

ü      Feeling Irritable and Restless

ü      Loss of Concentration

ü      Hallucinations

ü      Nodding Off

Seminars will be held throughout the month.  Each week of April, there will be a Seminar on Tuesdays in the C.R. England corporate building theatre at six pm and Thursdays the Fuel Island will be handing out water and fruit to drivers.

What a great way to help drivers help themselves.  With safety as C.R. England Inc.  Truck Driving School’s most important part of their curriculum, it’s no wonder they came up with such a great idea.

Leasing a Truck helps a man support his five children

Stacy Williams is a man on the road: a long highway to be exact.  This is a story of a 45-year old trucker who drives up and down the highways of our country to make a living.  It’s a hard life, but one he enjoys.

For six years, he drove a truck for a company that was struggling.  The economy finally forced layoffs and Stacy found himself with five children and no job.  Deciding not to have the welfare system take care of his family, he reached out to a company that he always admired.  Hired immediately by C.R. England, Inc., he chose to lease a truck.  Since then, he has found a passion that pays well as well as helps other people.  He has become a trainer for CR England, Inc. as well as hauling refrigerated product across the country.

He knows he has a huge responsibility to mentor young and new drivers to be there best.  Safety is the number one lesson that he reiterates time and time again with each new student.  Something he realizes will save the lives of the driver as well as others on the roads and highways.

He has had a big lost in the last couple of weeks.  A close friend he worked with passed away.  Stacy admits he is taking it one day at a time right now.  His friend was always one he rivaled with as to who was the better Lease Owner at CR England.  His motivation was to compete with his friend and now he has lost his buddy.

He keeps driving, hauling, and teaching.  Wherever Stacy goes, his Lease with CR England is mentioned and he can’t help but gloat about how happy he is with the company.  He tells of how he came to the school and had to humble himself.  Having to go through the Advanced Training Program, he thought he knew everything, but takes pride that he had to stand in front of the class and admit he was rusty in some areas of driving truck.  Working hard, he excelled in class and is now one of the best drivers out there.

Truck Driving Jobs

Have you been looking for work? Maybe a new career in the transportation industry is a good move for you. The trucking industry in particular is always growing. Very few truck drivers lost their jobs during the recession so its an industry that many people rely on. Just think of all the products in the stores you visit. Almost all of those products arrived because of a truck driver.

Truck driving can be an exciting career that keeps you from living the daily 9 to 5 grind. There are many types of truck driving jobs out there. Some are over the road where you are out 3 to 4 weeks at a time driving coast to coast and others may consist of short trips that get you home daily.

A lot o people want to know where they will stay when they are out over the road. The answer for many is right in the truck. When you see a tractor trailer hard at work and there is a large section behind the driver now you'll know just what that section of the cab is for. Sleeping.

Check out back often for more information about the transportation industry.

Successful Independent Contractors

George Gozan has been with CR England for 2 ½ years. As an Independent Driver, he loves the fact that he has been to all 48 states on the mainland and that he has had the opportunity to train other drivers to succeed. His latest achievement is that of becoming a successful trucker. Trucking is a good fit for him because he enjoys a challenge. It truly motivates him. His ultimate goal is to own his own truck and start a fleet.

Then there is Glenn Roberts who has been with CR England for over 16 years. A motivator for him is his family and the financial tools that support them. One of his many ultimate goals is to be one of the best drivers that CR England has ever had. A great accomplishment that he just may reach.

A retired Navy man, Steve Ryan, was a chief Radioman for four ships with overseas duty in the Philippines. He loves to spend his time with his grandchildren as well as his old 1974 Corvette. His motivation to succeed is his family. He loves being on the road and has always had great experiences training new drivers.

All three drivers live completely different lives, but succeed as Independent Contractors for CR England. Owning their own business is their tool to succeed. If you would like to drive as an Independent Contractor for CR England, there is no down payment requirement. Go to www.CREngland.com or call 888-537-2995 to apply.

If you don’t have your CDL A yet, CR England has one of the top trucking schools in the United States with a focus on safety. You could have something in common with these three proud men.
